Plowing Forward

The plan for the start of year was to hit the ground running, I was optimistic, it was GOING to happen! So far.......not so much. We started off the year by passing around a cold, now recovered. Still I can't seem to get motivated. The inspiration is there, I've even written down a few ideas for new embroidery projects and paintings, I just can't seem to get past looking at my supplies and sorting out the bits that I need to get started.

I did do one creative project, I made my husband a rustic little book for his birthday.

Just a little something for when inspiration strikes, a thought, small sketch, or poem.
I had no idea what I was doing, as is how I approach most of my projects. With supplies in hand and a bee in my bonnet I jumped in feet first. I watched a couple videos on making books, got a bit frustrated along the way, but I like the way it turned out.

He seemed to like it too.
Happy Birthday Honey!

It's been 15 years! This is us when we were dating, oh sooo young.

Thank you my sweet husband for always making me feel smart, and beautiful, for making me laugh, and for always believing in me.

Invasion

Well its that time of year again. When the harvest moon hangs heavy in the sky and the warm days of summer give way to the crisp nips of fall. Its about this time you can count on Daleks descending from planet Skaro hell bent on the destruction of the
human race and all life in general. Its is import to appreciate family and friends more than ever. Remember that while you are trampling them to save your own ass from extermination.

This is the kind of post my husband puts on facebook....he's quite a handsome man when he is not being fried by a Dalek.

So Glad To Be Home!

The past 2 days are a bit of a blur. My husband has been feeling a bit ill for the past week and a half or so. We thought he had a really mild flu. Sunday night he was feeling a bit worse, but we had hopes that he would feel better by Monday morning. He woke me up at 12:30 still feeling horrible and I made him some tea and got him the heating pad. At 5:00 am he woke me up to let me know he was in so much pain he was ready to go to the ER.
Turns out he had an appendicitis...my poor honey. Monday was all about getting into a room at the hospital, waiting for the OR and the Surgeon, having the offending organ taken out, and recovering from the general anesthesia. Apparently when he was in the recovery room waking up from the general anesthesia he was hallucinating that my friend Beth and I were standing over him. I was just smirking at him, but Beth was harassing him by saying things like "wake up knucklehead". I'm not sure to what extent he responded to her but the nurse that brought him back was chuckling at him.
Today was all about pain killers, eating solid foods and waiting to be discharged.
I have to say that the staff at Skagit Valley Hospital were all very very nice and took great care of my honey.
I'm glad we caught it when we did, it could have been way more serious.
We are very tired and glad to be home.
